AliveColors 9.9: New Artistic Effects & Other Features

March 11, 2025 — AKVIS announces an update of AliveColors, a comprehensive and powerful image editor for Windows, macOS, Linux. Version 9.9 offers four new filters, the Artistic Effects group, new and enhanced selection features, and a lot of improvements and bug fixes.

AliveColors is a powerful cross-platform image editing program. The graphics editor includes a wide range of options for creating and editing images, RAW processing, retouching, drawing, and painting tools, FX brushes, color correction options, a huge variety of effects, AI-powered neural filters, and many other features. The program contains a set of the built-in plugins by AKVIS and some other developments of the AKVIS company.

Version 9.9 introduces the new Pencil Sketch, Torn Edges, Lens Correction, and Wave filters. The Pencil Sketch effect transforms photos into sketches, imitating the technique of real drawing. The Torn Edges effect transforms photos into two-color, high-contrast drawings with rough edges and contours, creating a loose paper look. The Lens Correction filter allows you to fix common lens flaws, correct optical distortions, and adjust the perspective of an image. The Wave effect in the Distortion group allows you to add distortions in the form of waves, creating undulating pattern.

Some filters have been combined into the Artistic Effects group: Comics, Halftone Pattern, Linocut, Pen & Ink, Photocopy, Stencil, as well as the new Pencil Sketch and Torn Edges effects. These filters allow you to stylize painting and drawing techniques and create polygraph prints.

Also, the update offers improvements of the selection features, enhanced layers effects and other refinements as well as bug fixes.

The AliveColors image editor is available for download at alivecolors.com. The trial period includes 10 days of fully functional use.

AliveColors is a 64-bit app and runs on Windows 7-11, macOS 10.12 (Sierra) - macOS 15 (Sequoia), and Linux (Debian/Ubuntu/Red Hat/CentOS/Fedora/openSUSE). The software supports a multi-language, configurable and customizable user-friendly interface.

The program comes in full-featured lifetime licenses: AliveColors Home ($55) for personal use and AliveColors Business ($160) for commercial use. Also, the Free version is available for home users with limited functionality.
